About Russell J Richardson
About Russell J. Richardson Sr. and Jr.
My father worked for my grandfather who started the Russell J. Richardson, Inc. in 1945. They were well respected in the community and believed in doing quality work. You can still identify my grandfather’s work in valley houses. He would paint a coat of varnish on all copper pipes when he was finished. On heating jobs he would paint all iron fittings black and gold on the fitting hubs. It was a labor of love for my grandfather. You could see it in everything he did. Unfortunately, my grandfather passed before I began working for the business.
Even though my grandfather started the business, my father has made the business what it is today. For almost 60 years, he put his life into the business. When he turned 65, I told him he could slow down if he wanted and his reply was, “If I didn’t enjoy what I was doing, I would have.” My dad is also a Veteran, serving the United States army as a medic. He just fully retired last year at the age of 81. Over the years my father has told me and my son many stories of what it was like years ago, often with fond recollection. My son and I have huge shoes to fill and we look forward to the journey.
Russell J. Richardson III
At the age of 24, after serving in the U.S. Air Force, I discoverd my passion. Working with my father, Russell J. Richardson, Jr., combined with the experience from my grandfather, Russell J. Richardson Sr. (founder) has fostered a love of serving people through plumbing and heating. I am most proud that the business now includes my son, Russell J. Richardson, IV, encompassing four generations. I currently hold five Connecticut licenses (Plumbing, Heating and Cooling, Solar Hot Water, Well Extension Contractor, and Fire Protection) and a masters plumbing license in New Hampshire.
The business is an authorized service representative for In-Sink-Erator and a member of the Better Business Bureau. Our areas of expertise include commercial, industrial, as well as residential. We pride ourselves on honesty, integrity, quality work, and taking care of the community. We are a family business, which also includes my wife and daughter working for the company. Russell J. Richardson, Inc. has been proudly serving the Farmington Valley since 1945.
Russell J. Richardson IV
In 2004 when I was 18 years old I discovered what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I was tired of the corporate life and sitting behind a desk, so I started helping out my father with the plumbing business. It was instant fulfillment and enjoyment right from the start. I decided to enroll at New England Technical Institute, where I completed my HVAC schooling and received my certificate. I also enrolled in the state technical schools to complete my plumbing courses and received my plumbing license.
By next year [2016], I will be a licensed HVAC technician as well. Although schooling is great, it doesn’t compare to the vast amount of knowledge, integrity, experience, and work ethic that has been passed down through the generations. I have my Grandfather and Father to thank for passing that down to me from my Great Grandfather. I truly enjoy carrying on that tradition and helping out our community for all of their plumbing and HVAC needs.
